AIR CON

Here at Tyre Spot, we offer both an Air Conditioning Recharge and an Air Conditioning Clean, to ensure your Air Conditioning is working at its very best.

Air Conditioning is no longer a luxury addition to a car – it’s now fitted as standard due to its many benefits to a driver. You may be surprised to learn that Air Conditioning does more than keep the air cold.

Alongside giving you a cooler, more comfortable drive in the summer, Air Conditioning can improve your journey all year round. Air Conditioning is an efficient demister, and will help clear your windshield of mist in all seasons.

It also keeps the air fresh and clean, preventing drowsiness and making your time in your car more pleasant. By using your Air Conditioning instead of opening windows, you’re keeping your car’s aerodynamics at an optimal level and therefore saving on fuel.

Like any part of your vehicle, your Air Conditioning needs to be checked and serviced regularly. Warm Air Conditioning, bad smells and misted windscreens are all signs that your Air Conditioning needs a recharge.

At Tyre Spot, we can carry out a FREE Air Conditioning check, to ensure your Air Conditioning is working efficiently. Your car may need an Air Conditioning recharge or clean – we can provide both an R134A recharge and a R1234YF recharge.

Which air con gas is suitable for my vehicle?

As a way of combatting climate change, the type of gas used in vehicle air conditioning systems has been changed from the widely used R134A to the more environmentally friendly R1234YF.

What this means is that AC systems in cars manufactured after 2017, have been built to take the R1234YF gas. Some manufacturers however, changed to this more expensive gas sooner so there is a chance that some cars made between 2012 and 2016 may also take this gas.

Luckily, one of our skilled technicians will check this before they do the job and will advise customers who are unsure, exactly which gas is suitable for their vehicle.

Tyre Spot recommend that you recharge your Air Conditioning system every two years. If you’re noticing any issues with your Air Conditioning, we recommend you recharge earlier.

An Air Conditioning Recharge takes around an hour, but we may ask you to leave your vehicle with us for longer, in case we find any further faults.

An Air Conditioning Recharge involves a complete removal and replacement of Air Conditioning gas and lubricant. We also check your gas pressure and cooling efficiency.

An Air Conditioning Clean removes any harmful bacteria in your Air Conditioning system. No gas is replaced during a clean.
