Tyre Spot & Radar Tyres Sponsor a Special Book Launch
Last month, Tyre Spot had the privilege of being involved in something a little outside our usual day-to-day work. Alongside our partners at Radar Tyres, we were proud to sponsor a very special children’s book launch in support of the Women’s Cancer Detection Society (WCDS).
While book launches aren’t typically part of our world, supporting WCDS certainly is. We’ve been proud supporters of the charity for several years, and when we learned they were looking for a sponsor for this meaningful event, it felt like a natural fit. By teaming up with Radar Tyres—who themselves have a strong history of supporting breast cancer research charities—we were delighted to offer our support.
The idea for the books came from Kathryn Jobes of WCDS, who identified a genuine need for child-friendly resources to help families navigate an incredibly difficult time.
Two local nurses, Emily Turnbull and Rachel Lockerbie, wrote the books, with illustrations by Kirsty Reilly. The titles include Mammy Has Breast Surgery, Mammy Has Chemotherapy, and Mammy Has Radiotherapy. Each book has been thoughtfully created to help children better understand what their mother is going through, offering reassurance, clarity, and comfort during an uncertain time.
Our sponsorship of this event follows closely on the heels of our recent Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign with Radar Tyres, which successfully raised over £2,400 for WCDS. Being able to continue that support through this book launch made the occasion even more special.
If you’d like to learn more about the books or the vital work carried out by the Women’s Cancer Detection Society, we encourage you to visit their website at www.wcdsgateshead.co.uk.
We’re incredibly proud to have played a small part in supporting a project that will make a meaningful difference to families when they need it most.
